SALT LAKE CITY, Utah - More accolades keep rolling in for Utah's Andrew Bogut as April's issue of Basketball Times has named the seven-footer its 2004-05 Player of the Year.
The Australian standout has led the Utes to a Mountain West Conference title and to the NCAA Sweet 16. He averages a MWC-best 20.4 point and 12.2 rebounds to go along with his 1.91 blocks and 2.4 assists. His 25 double-doubles this season leads all Division I players.
Also impressive were his performances against a pair of the top teams in the country. Bogut averaged 21.5 points and 11.0 rebounds and shot 88.8 percent from the floor against Washington and Arizona earlier this season.
The conference's Player of the Year, Bogut has also been named ESPN.com's Player of the Year and a first team All-American by two different organizations. In addition, Bogut is a Wooden Award and Naismith Award finalist.
Bogut and the Utes return to action when they play Kentucky in the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Basketball Tournament. The two rivals play on Friday, March 25, at 7:40 p.m. in Austin, Texas.
