SALT LAKE CITY - Senior guard Marc Jackson and sophomore center Andrew Bogut will both be honored before No. 15 Utah's final home game of the season against San Diego State on Saturday at 1 p.m. in the Jon M. Huntsman Center.
Utah has traditionally honored its seniors before the final home game of the season. Jackson, who rejoined the team this year, will be making the final Huntsman Center appearance of his three-year career on Saturday. Utah will also recognize Bogut. The sophomore national player of the year candidate has yet to announce his plans for next year, but has been projected as a top five pick should he declare for the NBA Draft.
"Marc has been the heart and sole of this team since his first day back as far as his passion and his work ethic," said Ute head coach Ray Giacoletti. "He's a guy that any coach in America would love to have on his team. You know what you're going to get night in and night with him, and that's hard to find in college basketball players today."
"Andrew is the best player I've ever been around," Giacoletti said. "I hope the fans of Salt Lake and the University of Utah have appreciated him over the last two years because guys like him don't come along very often. He's not only been a great player on the floor but has been an even a better person, and that's the thing that is most impressive in my mind. We'd love to have Andrew back next season, but if he decides to forgo his final two years of college we wanted to make sure he had opportunity to enjoy a moment like the one he'll have on Saturday."
A ticket to the Utah gymnastics meet on Friday at 7 p.m. may be redeemed for a free ticket to Saturday's men's basketball game. The ticket trade will start at 6 p.m. Friday at the Huntsman Center box office and is subject to availability. The No. 3 ranked Ute gymnasts will host a quadrangular featuring three of the teams from last year's NCAA Super Six Championship (Utah, Stanford and Florida), as well as Cal.
