SALT LAKE CITY - After a week off from competition, the University of Utah baseball team has a busy week ahead of it. The Utes will play their home opener Tuesday at Noon, hosting Albertson College at Ute Field.
The Utes enter the doubleheader against Albertson with a record of 4-8. Utah split a doubleheader with Southern Utah in Cedar City last Tuesday, dropping the first game 3-2 and coming back to take the nightcap by a 14-6 tally.
Utah finally put some power in the offense at Southern Utah, hitting three home runs over the course of the twinbill with the Thunderbirds. The Utes have scored 37 runs over their last five games, for an average of 7.4 runs per game.
Albertson enters Tuesday's doubleheader with a mark of 8-2 on the season. The 'Yotes are on a seven-game winning streak, including four straight over Oregon Tech last weekend. Albertson's two losses came to Lewis-Clark State and British Columbia.
Following the doubleheader with Albertson, Utah will hit the road. The Utes head to Wilmington, N.C. for a three-game, weekend series at UNC-Wilmington. The Seahawks are currently 7-9 and are slated to face Elon College Tuesday and North Carolina State Wednesday before hosting Utah Friday-Sunday.
