LAS VEGAS, NEV. - The University of Utah's Zach Ganger reined victorious in the singles finals on Sunday at the Wilson ITA Mountain West Region Tournament.
Ganger, a junior and co-captain on the men's tennis team this year, played through the region tournament which ended Sunday. Making it through the tournament in its entirety, Ganger faced Clancy Shields of Boise State in the finals. The Ute took the first set 6-3, but Shields stepped up to take the second set from Ganger 6-3. The third set ended with Ganger swinging a 6-2 win over Clancy, naming him the champion.
COMING UP FOR THE UTES:
The University of Utah men's tennis team will begin their spring season with a home opener against Utah State on January 20, 2007.
