SALT LAKE CITY -- The University of Utah baseball team will resume preparations for the 2007 season Monday. The Utes will take part in individual workouts for a week, before full team practices begin on Jan. 15.
Utah head coach Bill Kinneberg is optimistic about his team's prospects for the upcoming season.
"I think we made some strides toward improvement last year, without a doubt," Kinneberg said. "But there are still some to be made. I think we're going to better, overall this year. Much of that is due to pitching depth. Plus, the main guys in the middle of our lineup are back."
Utah opens the 2007 campaign Feb. 2-4 with a three-game series at Santa Clara. The Utes' first home action is a two-game set with Gonzaga March 12-13 at Franklin Covey Field.
