Ganger Heads Up Competition in Main Draw Singles and Doubles

Las Vegas, Nev. - The University of Utah men's tennis team completed day three of the Mountain Regional Tournament on Friday. Zach Ganger, the returning champion of the tournament, will advance into the main draw semifinals. Ganger and John Taylor will also compete in the semifinals of the main draw doubles bracket. Jason Smits and Othman Zerouali-Ouariti will round out the doubles competition in the consolation bracket on Saturday.

Ganger (33), the No. 4 seed in the tournament, took on Kean Feeder from Boise State in the quarterfinals of the main draw on Friday. Ganger slammed a 6-0, 7-6 victory over the Bronco. The Ute will advance into the semifinals on Saturday to face Luke Shields from Boise State.

Ganger and Taylor, the No. 10 seed in the tournament, played two rounds of doubles on Friday in Las Vegas, Nev. In the round of 16, the Ute duo faced the brother duo from Boise State; Luke and Clancy Shields. The Ute duo played for a big 8-4 victory over the Broncos. In the quarterfinals, Ganger and Taylor faced conference opponents Barlocchi and Campbell from UNLV. The Ute duo took control of the match for an 8-4 victory.

In the consolation doubles bracket, Smits and Zerouali-Ouariti took on Fraser and Tracy from Northern Arizona in the second round. The Ute duo smashed an 8-4 win to advance into the round three qualifier.
