MURRAY, Utah - Members of the University of Utah men's basketball team - and other Ute student-athletes - took part in the annual Police vs. Fire DARE Basketball Game Thursday night at Murray High School.
Four Utah basketball players - senior Johnnie Bryant and juniors Luke Nevill, Shaun Green and Lawrence Borha - were in attendance. Borha, Bryant and Green served as officials for the game. The game went to the Murray Fire Department in a one-point decision. The Murray Police Department missed a three-pointer late that would have tied the contest.
With the victory, the Fire Department took the Firehose/Handcuff Trophy in front of a packed gym. All proceeds from the event went to benefit the DARE program.
In addition to Ute student-athletes, the Murray High School band and cheerleaders were on hand for the event, as was McGruff The Crime Dog.
