TULSA, OKLA. - Senior Zach Ganger (33) played the No. 1 seed Somdev Devvarman (1) from Virginia on Thursday in the main draw of the 2007 Polo Ralph Lauren All-American Tournament. The Ute suffered a tough loss (6-2, 6-2) that placed him in the consolation bracket. As a consolation competitor, Ganger posted a win in the first round, and will continue competition on Friday beginning at 9:00 a.m. CDT.
After being defeated in the main draw competition to Devvarman, the reigning 2007 NCAA Champion, Ganger moved into the consolation bracket. The Ute faced Dmytro Petrov from Oklahoma State. Petrov entered the main draw competition as a Qualifier and fell to Matco Maravic from Michigan in the first round. Ganger and Petrov went two sets in the first round of the consolation bracket for a 6-4, 7-6(5) victory in the Ute's favor.
On Friday, Ganger will face Will Gray from Tulsa. Gray will defend himself on his home courts after a win over Chris Racz from Tennessee in the first round of the consolation bracket (2-6, 6-3, 6-4).
