Utes Begin Five-Game Homestand Tuesday
The University of Utah baseball team opens its longest homestand of the season Tuesday, hosting Utah Valley State at Ute Field. The Utes move downtown for a three-game, weekend series with UNLV Friday-Sunday to wrap up the week.
Utah enters this week's action as winners of seven of its last 10 outings. The Utes have won each of their last three series as well. Utah is 9-15 overall and 2-1 in Mountain West Conference action. The Utes are coming off Saturday and Sunday victories at New Mexico last weekend.
UNLV is currently 11-19 overall and 1-2 in MWC action. The Rebels are hosting UC Irvine on Tuesday night, before coming to Salt Lake City for the weekend. UNLV snapped a four-game losing streak with a 3-2 victory over the University of San Diego on Sunday in Las Vegas.

Utah first baseman Jay Brossman (Sr., Pullman, Wash.) has been on a tear as of late. Brossman was named Mountain West Conference Player of the Week Monday, after batting .500 with three home runs and a slugging percentage of 1.111 last week. Brossman had multiple hits in all four of Utah's games last week and has had multiple hits in 12 of the Utes' 24 games. He homered in each of Utah's three games at New Mexico last weekend and now has a team-high eight round-trippers. Brossman is also in the midst of a 12-game hitting streak. He leads the MWC in home runs with eight.
