Utah Recruit Richardson Earns Preseason Accolades

SALT LAKE CITY - University of Utah baseball recruit Hilton Richardson has been named a Rawlings Preseason All-Region and Preseason All-America selection. Richardson signed a national letter-of-intent with the University of Utah back in November.
"Hilton is one of the better athletes coming out of high school in the country," Utah head coach Bill Kinneberg said. He is a very gifted athlete, who can really run. By the end of his career, he could really be a great player for us."
Richardson, a senior at Lake Washington High School in Kirkland, Wash., is one of 360 high school baseball players to earn Rawlings all-region honors.
"With more than 240,000 high school baseball players in the U.S., this accomplishment speaks volumes about the honored players and their talents," Rawlings Vice President Mike Thompson said of his company's awards.
Richardson was named the most improved player in the Seattle, Wash. area in 2005. He was a member of the 2006 Area Code team and played in the Pacific Northwest Championships in 2005, 2006 and 2007. Richardson is also an honor roll student at Lake Washington High School.
Richardson will be a freshman on the Utah baseball team in 2007-08.
