SALT LAKE CITY - The University of Utah baseball team will face Utah Valley State for the fifth time this season on Tuesday evening in Orem, Utah at Wolverine Baseball Stadium. First pitch is slated for 7 p.m.
The Utes are coming off a series victory over San Diego State over the weekend. Utah fell to the Aztecs Friday, before coming back to defeat SDSU 5-4 on Saturday and 9-8 on Sunday. The Utes will start Lucas Trinnaman on the mound Tuesday night. Trinnaman comes into the contest with an 0-5 record and a 7.99 ERA. Utah is 16-19 overall heading into this week's action.
Utah Valley State dropped two of three on a road trip to South Dakota State over the weekend. The Wolverines salvaged game three of the series by a count of 9-5 Sunday afternoon. UVSC will send Marcus Moore to the mound Tuesday afternoon. Moore has a 3-2 record and a 1.73 ERA. Utah Valley State is currently 14-23.
Utah has taken three of four from UVSC so far this season. The Utes and Wolverines will wrap up their season series May 8 in Orem.
Following Tuesday's matchup with Utah Valley, the Utes will host New Mexico in a three-game Mountain West Conference series beginning Thursday at Franklin Covey Field.
