Quoting Head Coach Angie Jacobs:
On The Games This Week: "We are looking forward to the opportunities to compete against Utah State and Brigham Young. This is going to be the start of the second round of league play and will be our chance to make up some lost ground. "
Fireworks Display - This weekend's games against Brigham Young may prove to be home-run riddled. The two teams boast four of the league's top five home-run hitters. Among the top five are Utah's Kara Foster and Hailey Davenport. Both are tied for second in the league with 14 round-trippers. Davenport hit a team-best two last weekend, plating a team-high four RBI. Foster hit one last weekend. BYU's Jodi Snow (first, 17), Emi Snow (fourth, 12) and Angeline Quiocho (fourth, 12) also rank among the league leaders in home runs.
Good Things Come in Small Packages - Left fielder Meghan Crouse had a breakout effort last weekend. The 4-11 junior from Vancouver, Wash., led the team in hitting an impressive .545 (6-for-11). Not especially known as a power hitter, half of Crouse's hits on the weekend went for extra bases. She had a pair of doubles (her fifth and sixth on the year) and hit her first-ever home run. Last year, she only had three extra-base hits (two doubles and a triple). This year, she has eight (six doubles, a triple and a homer).
