Quoting Head Coach Angie Jacobs:
On Opening Conference Play: "We are excited that we have finally gotten to the conference portion of our schedule. We've been on the road, playing non-conference games for eight of the last nine weeks. We are looking forward to playing our conference rivals, especially at home in front of our fans and our community."
On Last Weekend: "Offensively, we hit the long ball very well. We set records with six home runs in a game and with two grand slams in a game. For the most part, I think that the team played well. This was another opportunity for us to gain more experience heading in to Mountain West Conference play."
Bagged Me a Homer - The team hit 10 home runs last weekend, six of which came in the 12-4 win over Saint Mary's on March 31. The six home runs in one outing set Utah's single-game home run mark. In setting the new mark, Utah saw two home runs from both Diana Phillips and Staci Hemingway, and solo homers from Tori Medina and Karina Cannon. Cannon's home run was the first of her collegiate career.
Way to Be, Slugger - The Utes finished last weekend with an impressive .657 slugging percentage. That mark is bouyed by the fact that three of their players finished the weekend with a slugging percentage better than 1.000. Leading the way was Kara Foster. She had six hits, three were home runs, and recorded a 1.667 slugging percentage. Tori Medina had a 1.222 (four hits, one double, two homers) slugging percentage while Diana Phillips turned in a 1.143 (two hits, two home runs) effort.

Among those three home runs was a grand-slam shot against Saint Mary's on Sunday. That was the second grand slam of Foster's young career.
Record Ramblings - Kara Foster didn't fool anyone when she set a single-game record by plating six RBI in the 11-0 win over Saint Mary's on Sunday, April 1. She led the game off with a bases-loaded walk in the first, had a solo home run in the third and a grand-slam home run in the fourth ... Meghan Dyer had 20 K's in 11 innings of work last weekend. She now has 391 career K's, ranking fourth all-time in career strikeouts at Utah. She is the only two-year player to rank in the top five in K's. For the season, Dyer has a league-leading 186 strikeouts and averages 11.7 per game.
