SALT LAKE CITY - University of Utah baseball head coach Bill Kinneberg begins his two-month stint on the coaching staff of the USA National Baseball Team this week.
The team began practices earlier this week and games start Thursday against the North Adams Steeplecats. First pitch is set for 7 p.m. (EDT). They also play the Keene Swamp Bats (June 21), Vermont Mountaineers (June 22), Torrington Twisters (June 23) and the Newport Gulls (June 24); all this weekend.
The two-month season includes the Pan American Games (July 14-19) and culminates with the World Port Tournament (Aug. 2-12) in the Netherlands. Starting Thursday, fans can check in twice a week for Kinneberg's own take on the team's progress. Check Utah's baseball site for Kinneberg's updates.
In the meantime, live audio is available this weekend. Daily journals will be posted on the Long Beach State Web site all summer long.
