Hogue Announces Softball Staff

SALT LAKE CITY - Utah softball coach Amy Hogue has announced the hiring of Adrian Gregory and Tracee Withers as her assistant coaches. Gregory comes to Utah from the New England Riptide of the National Pro Fastpitch (NPF) League, while Withers just completed a playing career at Brigham Young.
"I am fortunate to have the opportunity to hire two quality assistant coaches in Adrian and Tracee," said head coach Amy Hogue. "Both women are outgoing, enthusiastic individuals who love the game and want to win."
Gregory is in her first season as a coach with the Riptide after playing for two years with the NPF's Texas Thunder, where she started at shortstop. She was drafted by the team in 2005.
"Adrian was highly sought after as an assistant and I feel fortunate to have her join our staff," Hogue said. "She works for legendary softball coach Sharon Drysdale with the Riptide, has competed at the top level and knows the type of talent that we need to bring in to establish a high-level program. I'm thrilled to have her."
Gregory, a Livingston, Texas, native, began her coaching career as a student assistant at Texas A&M in 2006 while also playing with the Thunder. The Aggies went 34-19 that year, reaching the NCAA Regional.
Gregory was a four-year starter for Texas A&M, playing shortstop, second base and outfield. She had a career batting average of .284 with 197 hits, 29 home runs and 37 stolen bases. As a senior, she led the Aggies to a Big 12 regular season title and an NCAA Super Regional appearance. Gregory was also named to the softball CoSIDA Academic All-District VI second team. Her junior season, she was a first-team All-Big 12 selection and was named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Region team. She was a team captain as a junior and senior. Gregory coached and played at Texas A&M under former Utah head coach Jo Evans, who also coached Hogue.
Withers (formerly Tracee Hoch) started at second base for BYU from 2006-07. As a junior, Withers led the team with 121 fielding assists while posting a .947 fielding percentage. She was named Academic All-Mountain West Conference.
Withers, a Roy, Utah, native, played at Salt Lake Community College from 2004-05, competing for Hogue her freshman year. She was a second-team NJCAA All-American in 2005, and was a two-time All-Region 18 selection. Withers was also named academic all-conference. She led the team in home runs both years she played at SLCC.
"I am lucky enough to have the opportunity to have recruited Tracee twice," Hogue said. "She is a true competitor and has been successful at all levels of the game. Tracee is a local product who is very familiar with the area softball programs and will help us recruit the top kids in the state every year. She is a perfect fit for this program."
