Dear Ute Fans,
The trip to Australia was a great experience for us as a team. We were able to bond with each other and see another country together. I was really excited to see where Stevie and Luke are from and to meet their families and friends. The trip for me was especially great because I was able to go out of the country for the first time with my teammates. That meant a lot to me because these are the guys that I go to war with every night.
Change is really tough, so I think this time that we had to practice and play was really valuable with having a new coach and new philosophy. This trip was a chance for us to get to know Coach B better and for him to get to know us as well. Coach has made us give a little bit more than what we have given in the past. He stresses being a "team" and doing things right for your teammates, not just yourself. Going to Australia was really good for us see where we are and what we need to work on for the upcoming season. We have a good foundation to build on. We worked hard on the defensive end and made strides, but we have some more work to do.
Overall, the trip was fun, as well as a learning experience for all of us. Like I said before, we able to see where we stacked up against good competition and how we responded to long days and travel. The time we had together is really going to pay off for this upcoming year. Thanks for reading all of my entries and I can't wait to see you at the Huntsman Center this season.
