Utah Looks To Snap Three-Game Skid Saturday vs. TCU
The University of Utah men's basketball team will look to snap its longest losing streak of the season Saturday, when TCU visits the Jon M. Huntsman Center. The Runnin' Utes have lost three straight. Saturday's contest between Utah and the Horned Frogs will be aired on The Mtn.
Utah enters Saturday's game with a 10-7 overall record and a 1-3 Mountain West Conference mark. The Utes dropped a 77-67 overtime decision at New Mexico Tuesday night. Utah trailed by 10 at the break, but came back to lead 56-47. The Lobos managed to tie it 60-60 at the end of regulation. In the extra period, New Mexico converted 7-of-7 at the line to ice the contest.
TCU is 11-6 overall, but is in a three-way tie for second in the MWC with a 3-1 league mark coming into the contest. The Horned Frogs' last outing was a 70-58 road win at Colorado State last Saturday. That victory came on the heels of consecutive home wins over New Mexico and Wyoming. TCU lost its conference opener at San Diego State, 64-57.

Utah is still the top field-goal shooting team in the Mountain West Conference with a .494 percentage. However, the Runnin' Utes have struggled shooting the ball since conference play began. Utah shot .511 during the non-conference portion of the season. However, the Utes are hitting at a rate of just .426 in league play. Utah made 50 percent or more of its shots in 7 of 13 non-conference games. However, in three MWC contests, the Utes' best percentage was .463 in an overtime loss at San Diego State. Utah is also the No. 2 team in the MWC in free-throw percentage (.729), but is just .660 at the line in MWC contests.
Johnnie Be Good
Senior guard Johnnie Bryant has embraced his role as Utah's sixth man this season, after starting 57 of his first 59 games as a Ute. Coming off the bench certainly didn't limit his playing time in Tuesday's loss at New Mexico, as he played 41 minutes. Bryant is the team's second-leading scorer, averaging 13.3 ppg, after scoring a season-high 25 vs. the Lobos. He has led or tied for the team lead in scoring in six of Utah's last eight games. Bryant is currently tied for fourth in the nation in scoring among non-starters (starting 25% or fewer of team's games).
