Utes Host 'Pokes Saturday, Hope to Reach .500 in MWC Play
The University of Utah men's basketball team will look to get back to .500 in conference play Wednesday night, when Wyoming visits the Jon M. Huntsman Center. The Runnin' Utes are 2-3 in the Mountain West Conference. Wednesday's contest between Utah and the Cowboys will be aired on The Mtn.
Utah enters Saturday's game with an 11-7 overall record and a 2-3 MWC mark. The Utes cruised to a 74-58 win over TCU Saturday. Johnnie Bryant set a school record with eight 3-pointers, as Utah hit a season-high 14 triples in the contest. Bryant led all scorers with 24 points in the game, while Luke Nevill and Shaun Green each added 16 for the Runnin' Utes.
Wyoming is 7-11 overall and picked up its first Mountain West Conference victory in its last outing. The Cowboys defeated Colorado State 73-58 Saturday in Laramie. Wyoming sits eighth in the league standings. The 'Pokes had lost five straight, including two in overtime, prior to defeating the Rams. Wyoming has not won consecutive games yet this season.

Match Game
Utah was 11-19 last season and have already matched that win total this year. The Utes are 11-7, picking up 11 wins in 18 outings. The 11th victory last season didn't come until the 28th game of the season. Utah needs just three more wins to reach the 14 victories from two years ago.
Johnnie B. Great
Senior guard Johnnie Bryant has embraced his role as Utah's sixth man this season, after starting 57 of his first 59 games as a Ute. In fact, ESPN.com recently rated Bryant as one of the top sixth men in the nation. He showed last week that being in the game at the opening tip isn't all that important, taking MWC Player of the Week honors. Bryant averaged 24.5 points per game last week, set a new school record for three-pointers in a game (8 vs. TCU) and moved into the team lead in scoring. He now ranks No. 3 nationally in scoring among non-starters (13.9 ppg).
