SALT LAKE CITY - Head baseball coach Bill Kinneberg has announced the signing of six student-athletes to National Letters of Intent. Joining the Utes for the 2010 campaign are Rick Anton (Prescott, Ariz./Yavapai JC), Brock Duke (Salem, Utah/Spanish Fork HS), Zach Adams (West Jordan, Utah/Cottonwood HS), Tyler Wagner (Henderson, Nev./Bishop Gorman HS), Cam Schiller (Prescott, Ariz./Yavapai JC) and Kevin Ponzo (LaVerne, Calif./San Dimas HS).
"The last two recruiting classes are as good as we have ever had," Kinneberg said. "We continue to make strides in our quest to be the Mountain West Conference champions. Assistant coaches Mike Crawford and Bryan Kinneberg have done a great job with a hard year of recruiting and this is a great class."

NJCAA Honorable Mention All-American at Yavapai JC as a freshman in 2008 ... first-team All-ACCAC ... first-team All-NJCAA Region I ... went 13-4 on the year ... 84 strikeouts and a school-record 1.38 ERA ...allowed just 15 earned runs in over 97 innings pitched ... played on the NJCAA All-Star team that competed against the Taiwanese Junior National Team in Millington, Tenn. ... attended Prescott High School.
Kinneberg on Anton: "Rick is considered the best junior college pitcher in Arizona, leading Arizona junior colleges in wins as a freshman last year. He should fit in and be a starter next year. "

Rated No. 1 in the state by the Utah Baseball Academy ... 5A first-team all-state by the Deseret News and Salt Lake Tribune ... played in the 2008 Marshall Gates Foundation all-star game, starting at third base for the National team ... batted .323 and went 6-1 for Spanish Fork during the regular season ... helped lead Spanish Fork to a state title as a freshman ... Varsity Academic All-Region in 2007-08 and carries a 3.7 GPA ... played with the USA U16 baseball team in 2006 ... is the only U16 player to have beaten the Cuban national team.
Kinneberg on Duke: "Brock is the best baseball player in the state of Utah. He just knows how to play the game. He is a quality pitcher but can play almost any position on the field."
Cam Schiller

Was a 4A first-team all-state selection and named to the All-Arizona team by the Arizona Republic in 2008 ... led the state of Arizona in hitting his senior year with a .625 batting average, including seven home runs, 14 doubles and four triples ... helped lead Prescott HS to a second-round appearance in the 2007 playoffs.
Kinneberg on Schiller: "Cam is a switch-hitting middle infielder who will have the chance to be an impact player with a year of junior college ball under his belt."
Zach Adams

Cottonwood HS
All-state honorable mention in 2008 ... second-team All-Region ... led Cottonwood to the 4A 2008 state championship and was named to the all-tournament team ... Cottonwood also won the Region 6 title.
Kinneberg on Adams: "Zach has a chance to be a tremendous pitcher when he is finished here. His potential is off the charts."
Tyler Wagner

Henderson, Nev.
Bishop Gorman HS
Hit .286 in 23 games for Bishop Gorman in 2008 ... helped lead Bishop Gorman to the 2008 state title (41-3 record) and the team was ranked second nationally by Baseball America at the end of 2008 ... team won the 2008 American Legion World Series.
Kinneberg on Wagner: "Tyler is an infielder that has a chance to play three positions for us - shortstop, second and third. He has great potential to grow."
Kevin Ponzo

2007 Valle Vista League MVP ... 2007 All-AAF Division IV first-team ... 2008 second-team all-league ... played for the North team at the 2008 Kiko Garcia Sports Training All-Star game ... had a 2.377 ERA in 35.1 innings pitched for San Dimas in 2008, leading them to a 19-8 overall record.
Kinneberg on Ponzo: "Kevin has over three pitches he can throw for a strike at anytime. He has the chance to get significant playing time immediately."
