SALT LAKE CITY - University of Utah head women's volleyball head coach Beth Launiere has announced the signing of Cinthia Silva, who recently completed an All-American career at Salt Lake Community College.
"Cinthia is a very good all-around volleyball player with great athleticism and experience," Launiere said. "We are excited to have a Junior College All-American joining our program. She fits our needs perfectly and we feel along with the other incoming players we signed in November we are putting together a team that can make a championship run."
Silva led SLCC to a third-place finish at the national tournament, going 44-2 on the season. She was named to the NJCAA All-Tournament team. Silva was a second-team All-American and a first-team all-region selection. She led the Scenic West Athletic Conference with 3.87 kills per game. As a freshman she earned all-region honorable mention honors, leading the SWAC in hitting percentage (.379) and was second in kills per game (3.64).
Silva joins newcomers Miranda Bradshaw, Sarah Hibbert and Abby Simmons this fall, who signed during the early signing period.
