The Utah men's basketball team finalized its 2008-09 schedule today when the Mountain West Conference office released the league pairings.
The MWC schedule has Utah playing its conference games on Wednesday and Saturday, with two exceptions: The home game with Brigham Young is slated for Tuesday, Jan. 27 and the Utes will play at New Mexico on Tuesday, Mar. 3.
Twenty-one Utah games will be broadcast nationally by either VERSUS, CBS C or The Mtn. The national broadcasts include all of Utah's MWC games other than its league-opener against Wyoming in Salt Lake City on Jan. 3.
Utah's non-conference schedule, which has been set since June 25, is one of the toughest in school history. With teams like Oregon (Dec. 3), California (Dec. 10), Gonzaga (Dec. 31) and LSU (Jan. 6) coming to the Huntsman Center, the Utes will play their best home schedule since the early 1970s.
The Runnin' Utes also face some stiff challenges on the road, including games at Oklahoma on Dec. 13, Utah State on Dec. 22 and UC-Irvine on Dec. 27.
Utah opens the season with an exhibition game against Grand Valley State on Nov. 8, before beginning the regular season against Southwest Baptist on Nov. 15.
