SALT LAKE CITY - The University of Utah men's basketball team (2-1) hosts Seattle University (2-2) at the Jon M. Huntsman Center Tuesday at 7 p.m. MT The Runnin' Utes hope to capture their third consecutive victory, while Seattle looks for its first road win of the year.
Utah holds a 6-2 all-time record against Seattle, including a 4-1 mark at home. The two sides haven't faced off since 1985, when the Runnin' Utes notched a 107-72 victory in Salt Lake City. The Utes have won the last three meetings.
Junior guard Carlon Brown (Riverside, Calif.) is Utah's leading scorer at 14.7 points per game, while senior forward Kim Tillie (Cagnes-sur-Mer, France) is the top rebounder at 7.0 boards per contest. Senior guard Luka Drca (Belgrade, Serbia) leads the Utes and the Mountain West Conference with 7.3 assists per game.
Utah is coming off an 88-48 victory against Southern, its largest margin of victory since 2004. Freshman guard Marshall Henderson (Hurst, Texas) led the Utes with 13 points. Tillie was the top rebounder for the third time in as many games, pulling down eight boards.
Seattle's top offensive threat is Charles Garcia, averaging a double-double at 24.0 points and 10.0 rebounds in 32.8 minutes per game.
Seattle is 2-2 after taking a 91-87 win against Weber State in its last outing. Garcia was the game's top scorer and rebounder with 27 points.
Utah head coach Jim Boylen, now in his third year, holds a 44-26 (.629) career record.
Seattle is led by first-year head coach Cameron Dollar.
Tuesday's game is the second of the opening-round games as part of the Las Vegas Invitational. The Utes depart for Las Vegas Wednesday morning where they will play two more games, beginning with a Friday matchup against Illinois at 7:30 p.m. PT.
