The Utah football team returns to work this week after taking time off for spring break. The Utes will hold practices on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Tackling drills begin on Thursday. Four weeks remain in spring training, which will culminate with the seventh-annual Red-White Game on Saturday, April 18. Spring practices, scrimmages and the Red-White game are open to the public.
CHANGING TIMES
A couple of scrimmage times have changed. The scrimmage on Friday, April 3 will start at 6:45 p.m. and the scrimmage on Saturday, April 11 has moved to a 9:45 a.m. start. Practices this week are Tuesday and Thursday (3-5 p.m.) and Saturday (10 a.m.-noon). Practice locations will be determined by the weather and field conditions.
UTE NOTES
Out this week with hamstring strains are linebacker Matt Martinez and tight end Kendrick Moeai ... Out for the entire spring camp to recover from prior surgeries are: starting linebacker Nai Fotu (knee), starting strong safety Joe Dale (shoulder), receiver Mychal Robinson (foot) and first-semester freshman Zach Davila (knee, surgery last July) ... 2008 offensive line signee Vyncent Jones has graduated from Jordan High School in Sandy, Utah, and has enrolled at the U. The freshman will be at practice on Tuesday ... The Utes have learned that JC signee Maxwell Lacy has not completed his AA degree in time for spring enrollment and will join the team in the summer.
PRACTICE PROTOCOL
During spring camp, all practices and scrimmages are open to the media and public in their entirety. Television cameras may shoot video for the first 30 minutes of practice and anytime during the scrimmages.
