SALT LAKE CITY - Utah travels to Gonzaga for a mid-week series on Tuesday, March 24, and Wednesday, March 25.
The Utes dropped two of three to No. 14 TCU, but snapped a four-game slide with a 10 inning, 9-8 win over No. 14 TCU on Sunday, March 22. Corey Shimada's two-out double in the bottom of the 10th inning scored two runs to lead Utah to the win.
"I think it was important that we won that game, not only for the standings but for our mental outlook," head coach Bill Kinneberg said. "We lost some games that we feel like we should have won."
The Zags have won their last eight games, including series sweeps against Utah Valley and Pacific. Gonzaga has will wrap up a nine game home stand against the Utes.
Tyson VanWinkle leads Gonzaga with a .361 batting average, 11 doubles and 22 RBI. Six starters are batting over .300.
Tuesday's projected starter, Reedy Berg, will be making his first start of the season. He has seen action in five games in relief this year, pitching 8.1 innings with six strikeouts.
"Gonzaga has done a great job building their program over the last three or four years and it will be a tough environment," Kinneberg said. "We will have to get tough - it will be cold, rainy and wet."
