SALT LAKE CITY - The Utah baseball team continues its home stand this week, facing Washington State for a two-game series on Tuesday, April 21, and Wednesday, April 22 before seeing top-10 ranked UC Irvine for three games during the weekend. Both game start at 6:00 p.m.
"This is a great opportunity to play at home against some very good clubs," head coach Bill Kinneberg said. "To have a Big West and a Pac-10 team come in is a highlight of our non-conference season."
Washington State comes into Utah after a three-game sweep of Arizona, winning all three games by one run, including an 8-7 victory in 11 innings on Sunday. Greg Lagreid leads the team with 43 hits and a .368 ERA. Alex Burg has 30 RBI and a .333 batting average along with a team-best .649 slugging percentage.
The Utes will start Joe Pond (Fr., RHP, 1-1) in Tuesday's game and Bryn Card (Jr., RHP, 2-2) on Wednesday. Washington State's pitchers were unavailable at press time.
