SALT LAKE CITY - The Utah baseball team opens a seven game road stretch on Tuesday evening at Utah Valley, beginning at 6:00 p.m.
The Utes are coming off a difficult stretch of games in which they faced Brigham Young, Washington State and No. 1-ranked UC Irvine. The Utes snapped a 10 game slide with a 9-1 win over Washington State and upset UC Irvine, 7-3, in the final game of the series.
"It was a difficult week, playing several good teams in the region," head coach Bill Kinneberg said. "I am happy the week is over. They have played hard every game. Our attitude has always been good and we need to get on a roll now and that starts with Utah Valley."
The Utes and Wolverines have split a pair of games this season. Utah earned a comeback win back on March 31, 9-6, while falling to UVU, 8-2 on April 7. Utah Valley is led by Jace Brinkerhoff (.425, 30 RBI, 12 doubles) and Jake Rickenbach (.340, 33 RBI, four triples). The Wolverines face BYU on Monday night before playing Utah on Tuesday.
On the mound, Utah's Bryn Card and UVU's Brock Sargent face each other for the second time this season, with Sargent coming away with the win in the first meeting.
