* The Utah baseball team started fall practice on Sept. 9 and will go until Oct. 23, practicing four to five days a week including several intrasquad scrimmages.
"At the end of October our goal is for our guys to be ready to play," head coach Bill Kinneberg said. "We want to know the team and individual strengths and weaknesses. We won't be on the field as a team until the first game so we may have to do more team things in the fall than normal."
* Kinneberg noted the positive atmosphere on the team after coming off a strong ending to 2009.
"Our guys came back hungry," he said. "They had a taste of success last year and there is a good feeling and positive attitude on the field."
* Eleven new players joined the Utes for the 2010 campaign. The fall roster is available here.
"The new guys are on a learning curve and once they learn the ins and outs they will get more comfortable as we are getting going," Kinneberg said. "We have some talented new players."
* The Utes received their MWC Championship rings at a team dinner last weekend.
