2010-11 Men's Basketball Schedule
SALT LAKE CITY - The University of Utah men's basketball team will host Adams State in exhibition play Friday, Nov. 5, at the Jon M. Huntsman Center. Tip-off is slated for 7 p.m. MT as the Runnin' Utes prepare to tip off the 2010-11 season.
The Runnin' Utes return six players from last year, including the reigning MWC Defensive Player of the Year, 7-foot-3 junior center David Foster. He is joined by senior forward Jay Watkins, junior guard Jace Tavita and sophomores Shawn Glover (wing), Chris Hines (guard) and Jason Washburn (center).
Joining them are nine new recruits and a pair of recently added walk-ons, bringing the roster total to 17. Of the newest Utes, four are junior college transfers: Will Clyburn (wing), Antonio DiMaria (wing), Chris Kupets (guard) and Josh Watkins (guard). Utah's five recruited freshmen include wing Josh Fuller, guard Preston Guiot, guard Dominique Lee, center Neal Monson and guard/wing J.J. O'Brien. Walk-ons Mike Hodgman and Seth Tippetts have also been added to the Utes' roster.
Utah was picked to finish sixth in the preseason Mountain West Conference poll as the Runnin' Utes enter their final season as members of the MWC.
Adams State is an NCAA Division II member and competes in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. The Grizzlies are led by first-year head coach Louis Wilson. ASC enters the season will be without its top three scorers from 2009-10 and three of its top four rebounders. Seth Heinbaugh is the Grizzlies' top returning scorer and rebounder at 8.7 points and 4.4 boards per contest.
Utah's official season-opener will be Friday, Nov. 12, against Grand Canyon University. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. MT at the Huntsman Center.
