With baseball in the offseason, UtahUtes.com spotlights a different student-athlete every week in '10 Questions With' that will lead fans up to the start of the 2011 season. This week's spotlight is junior catcher Jo Jo Sharrar.
What is your favorite baseball memory?
My favorite baseball memory is my freshman year in college when we won the MWC Championship and got the chance to go to a regional.
What do you like to do when you are not playing baseball?
When I'm not playing baseball I like to play video games and also go fishing.
Do you have a nickname? How did you get your nickname?
My nickname is Jo Jo and I have had it as long as I can remember.
Why did you choose Utah? What is the best thing about Utah?
I chose Utah because I love the team and the coaching staff. The best thing about Utah is how nice all the people are.
My favorite thing about Salt Lake City is:
My favorite thing about SLC is all the different activities it has to offer. When you live here there is always something to do.
The teammate I most admire is who, and why?
My freshman year I played with Corey Shimada and he would always give 100% and led by example. He taught me work ethic and how to play the game right.
What do you like best about Coach Kinneberg?
I love all the baseball knowledge Coach K has to offer and how willing he is to share it.
What are your goals for this year?
My main goal for this year is to get another chance to play in an NCAA Regional and make it to the College World Series.
What are your pregame superstitions?
My only superstition is when I step into the box before every pitch I kick the dirt three times.
What is your major and what do you want to do after you graduate?
My major is Exercise Science and after I graduate I am going to med school. Hopefully one day I will be a pediatrician once I finish med school.
