Pac-10 Announces 2011-12 Men's Basketball Schedule

WALNUT CREEK, Calif.-- The Pac-10 Conference office released the future Pac-12 men's basketball schedule for 2011-12 Thursday. Utah's first game as a Pac-12 member will be on the road at Colorado on Dec. 31, 2011. The Utes' first Pac-12 home game will be Jan. 5, 2012, as Utah hosts Washington State.
As in previous years, the conference schedule is comprised of 18 games for each institution and will maintain the travel partner in a non-divisional format. The annual schedule will include games against an institution's traditional rival both home and away. In addition, each institution will play six other opponents both home and away (for two consecutive years), and four opponents on a single-game basis - two at home and two away. The single-play opponents will rotate every two years.
In 2011-12, Utah will play home-and-away series with Arizona, Arizona State, California, Colorado (travel partner), Oregon and Oregon State.
"We are pleased and excited about the schedule and we hope our fans will be energized by it as well," said Utah Director of Athletics Dr. Chris Hill. "The Thursday-Saturday playing schedule simplifies things for our fans and is advantageous academically for our players, because they won't miss as much class time as they have in recent years. This will be one of the most challenging schedules in Utah basketball history, not just with the Pac-12 teams but with several quality non-conference opponents as well, including our rivalry game with BYU."
Utah holds a 131-94 (.582) all-time record against the Pac-10.
While the opponents for each team have been established, game dates may be adjusted for television.
