With fall practice winding down, UtahUtes.com starts a series called '10 Questions With..' that will lead fans up to the start of the 2011 season. Each week a different student-athlete will be spotlighted. This week's spotlight is senior starting pitcher Rick Anton. Anton was a second-team All-Mountain West Conference selection last year.
What is your favorite baseball memory?
My favorite baseball memory was being part of a 20+ game winning streak in junior college.
What is your favorite sport besides baseball?
Fishing
What do you like to do when you are not playing baseball?
When I am not playing baseball I enjoy hiking and fishing.
Why did you choose Utah? What is the best thing about Utah?
I chose Utah because of the great facilities and coaching staff. The best thing about Utah is its support for athletes.
Who has been the biggest influence in your life and why?
My parents have been the greatest influence in my life because they have always supported me.
My favorite thing about Salt Lake City is:
The fact that it is very close to various outdoor activities.
The teammate I most admire is who, and why?
Stephen Streich because he is a good friend and a great leader.
What do you like best about Coach Kinneberg?
He is very experienced and very approachable. His door is always open when you need advice.
What are your pregame superstitions?
Before a game I try to stay loose. I usually participate in flip or pepper, then read over game strategies.
What is your major and what do you want to do after you graduate?
I am a Parks, Recreation and Tourism major with Natural Resources as my emphasis area. After I graduate I hope to spend some time traveling, then eventually start a career in the Natural Resources field.
