Utah Head Coach Jim Boylen
"I'm proud of my team, we practiced hard. My assistants thought we had our best two practice days of the year after our last game. I thought we were really good at times tonight."
"That was a good team that we played, they are difficult to play against with their pressure. I am thankful for the win. I thought we got a lot from a lot of guys. The young guys played well. Drca and Brown were who they needed to be. We have to keep grinding in this program and I think we did that tonight."
"We have had many games with five minutes to go and it's tied or it's a one-possession game, so I tried to give my team a little confidence saying that `we have been here before and we know what we have to do to win'. We have to make our free throws, we have to make big shots on goal, and someone has to make a big play, whatever it is."
"I thought we had big plays to get the win tonight. Usually we win those games with our free throw shooting. Tonight we didn't really do that but we still hung in there and made enough plays."
Junior Guard Carlon Brown
"It feels good to get the win, especially after what we have been going through this year. To beat a quality team like UNLV is pretty much amazing. We have to take this win and use the momentum to prepare for Saturday."
"No one who came into this program wanted to be 11-13 (coming into tonight), it is a chip on our shoulder and we have to keep getting better and keep getting as many wins as we can."
Freshman Center Jason Washburn
"Coach tells us all the time that we are one of the best practice teams he has ever been around. We come in every day and we give it our all and we just have to transfer that to the court, and I think that really showed tonight. The past week and a half we have picked each other up and helped each other with what we need to work on. In the end we just have to believe in it and we have to keep going."
UNLV Head Coach Lon Kruger
"We got a couple of steals and a couple of good efforts defensively, but just couldn't hold on down the stretch. We had a little window there to come back, obviously with some contested shots, but we wanted to get the ball into Tre'Von's hands and for him to jab and shoot the three, but it didn't happen that way."
"Every game is different and I don't know if you can necessarily compare losses to each other, but in this particular case, our guys fought to get back into the game and showed some really good effort in the second half. We have to have more of that effort though and we just have to take the positive from this loss and build off of it in future games."
