SALT LAKE CITY - The Runnin' Ute basketball team (10-12, 3-5 MWC) travels to Fort Worth, Texas, this week to take on TCU (11-13, 3-6 MWC). Tip-off at Daniel-Meyer Coliseum is slated for 7 p.m. CT and the game will be televised live on The Mtn.
The Utes are 2-5 on the road this season, 1-3 in conference games, while TCU is 8-5 at home, including a 2-2 mark in league play.
Utah leads the all-time series with TCU 13-4 and has beaten the Frogs four straight times, including three last season and this year's league opener in Salt Lake City. That meeting saw the Utes take a 65-45 victory and TCU to a season-low point total by its opposition.
Utah had four players score in double figures in that game, led by senior guard Luka Drca (Belgrade, Serbia) who poured in 14 points. Freshman guard Marshall Henderson (Hurst, Texas) grabbed a career-high eight rebounds in the game, while sophomore guard Jace Tavita (Salt Lake City) dished out a career-best six assists. TCU was led by Keion Mitchem's 14 points while Zvonko Buljan collected a game-high nine boards. Utah enters Wednesday's game hoping to snap a three-game losing skid. TCU picked up a win in its last outing to end a four-game losing run of its own.
On the season, junior guard Carlon Brown (Riverside, Calif.) is Utah's leading scorer with 13.4 points per game while senior forward Kim Tillie (Cagnes-sur-Mer, France) is the Utes' top rebounder at 5.5 boards per contest. Drca is leading the U. in assists with 3.7 per game. He needs only two more assists to crack the top 10 all-time at Utah.
Sophomore center David Foster (Lake Forest, Calif.), Utah's new single-season record holder for rejections, is leading the league in blocks per game with 4.5, ranking No. 4 in the NCAA.
Ronnie Moss is leading the MWC in assists with 6.5 per game, while also leading the Frogs in scoring 14.5 points per contest. Buljan is their top rebounder at 8.9 per contest and is second in scoring with 12.5 points per game.
Utah head coach Jim Boylen holds a 52-37 (.584) record in his third year at Utah. TCU head coach Jim Christian, now in his second year, holds a 25-30 (.455) record at the helm for the Frogs.
