SALT LAKE CITY - The Utah baseball team returns to conference action this weekend with a three-game series against Air Force, beginning Thursday, April 1, at Spring Mobile Ballpark. First pitch is at 6:00 p.m.
Utah had a solid first conference series of the year, taking two of three from New Mexico on March 19-21. The Utes have won four of their last six games but are coming off a 10-8 loss to Utah Valley on Tuesday. C.J. Cron led Utah with four hits in the game.
Although 7-17 on the year, Air Force has won two of its last three games, including a 14-11 win over fifth-ranked TCU last weekend.
Garrett Custons leads Air Force with a .366 batting average and 10 doubles. Addison Gentry has a team-high .639 slugging percentage along with 31 hits, 31 RBI and six homers. Air Force leads the conference in triples (16) and stolen bases (39).
Thursday's starter Alex Truesdale is 2-3 on the year with a 7.90 ERA. He pitched seven innings and earned the win in last week's win against TCU. For Utah, reigning MWC Pitcher of the Week Jordan Whatcott takes the mound. He scattered four hits in a six-inning stint in Utah's 9-1 non-conference win over Northern Colorado last Saturday.
