LAS VEGAS, Nev. - The fifth-seeded University of Utah men's tennis team (7-16, 2-4 MWC) fell to fourth-seeded TCU(10-12, 3-3 MWC), 4-2, in the quarterfinal round of the Mountain West Conference Championship at the Fertitta Tennis Complex in Las Vegas.

In doubles Phillip Eilers and Alex Golding were defeated by the No. 37-ranked Christopher Price and Emanuel Brighiu from the No. 1 position, 8-5. The Horned Frogs clinched the doubles point from the No. 3 slot Benito Suriano and Stephen Jacobs fell to Zach Nicholas and Paul Chappell, 8-5. The No. 2 match went unfinished at, 7-4, between Utes Timmy Allin and Jason Smits and TCU's Soren Goritzka and Cameron Nash.

In singles Utah tied the match at 1-1 with a win from the No. 6 position. Jacobs topped Chappell, 6-4, 6-4. In the No. 3 spot Golding took the lead for Utah with a win over Marius Cirstea, 6-4, 6-4.

The Horned Frogs tied the match at 2-2 from the No. 4 spot. Suriano fell to Price, 6-4, 6-3. In the No. 1 slot Eilers was defeated by Brighiu, 7-5, 6-3. TCU clinched the match from the No. 2 position. Smits fell to Nichols in three sets, 6-0, 4-6, 6-4. The match in the No. 5 position went unfinished at, 6-7, 6-3, 3-0, between Utah's Allin and TCU's Goritzka.
