SALT LAKE CITY - The University of Utah track and field team will be hosting the 2010 Utah Classic on Saturday at Tally Stevens Stadium (800 S, 1400 E). All events will be held at the stadium beginning at 10:30 a.m. MT, with the exception of the hammer throw, which will take place at Guardsman Way Field (500 S Guardsman Way) starting at 10:00 a.m.
This will be the last year the Utes will host their outdoor home meet at Tally Stevens Stadium. The McCarthy Family Outdoor Track and Field Complex, located on campus, will be completed for the 2011 outdoor season.

The Utes set 21 new personal bests and won two events last week in Provo, Utah, at the BYU Cougar Invite.
Senior Sarah Grimm and sophomore Langley Iverson won their individual events by a large margin over their competition. Iverson had a high jump clearance of 5-9.25 (1.76m) for first place overall. The next best height was by Whitey Aste, of Utah Valley, who posted a mark of 5-5 (1.65m).
Grimm had a mark of 188-3.75 (57.4m) in the hammer throw for first place above Krista Larson, an unattached competitor (181-10), and Ashley Morrison of Southern Utah (176-3.75). Both Grimm and Iverson won the 2009 Mountain West Conference Outdoor Championship last year in the same events.
On the track in the 100m hurdles, freshman Angela Kaplar earned second place overall with a new personal best time of 14.24. Freshman Delaney Fox also competed in the event for 17th place overall with a time of 16.09. In the 400m hurdles, senior Chelsey Kaplar had a finish time of 1:02.18 for fourth place overall. Freshman Stephanie Muelleck earned 12th overall with a time of 1:06.21.
In the 200m dash, senior Whitney Wellington finished fourth overall with a time of 25.17 and Lauryn McKay finished in 25.55 for 10th place overall. Freshmen Alyssa Johnson, Natalie Young and Nikki Dotter competed in the 400m dash. Johnson and Young finished third (56.71) and fourth (57.08), respectively. Dotter finished in 10th place overall with a time of 59.70.
In the 1500m run, freshman Jenny McCune was the first to finish out of three athletes from Utah. McCune finished the race in 4:55.81 for seventh place overall. Senior Sydney Osmun set a new personal best in the distance with a time of 5:12.09 for 12th place overall. Freshmen Hilary Troutner and Chantel Hunt finished 14th (5:17.86) and 15th (5:23.35), respectively.
