SALT LAKE CITY - The Utah baseball team opens the 2010 Mountain West Conference Tournament against host San Diego State. The Utes (22-26, 10-13) are seeded sixth in the tournament, while the Aztecs (28-26, 13-11) are seeded third. Utah will start LHP Rick Anton on the mound (6-3, 5.03 ERA) while SDSU is slated to start All-American RHP Addison Reed (8-1, 2.33 ERA).
Every game of the tournament will be televised by The Mtn., while audio for all of Utah's games will be available on UtahUtes.com.
Utah finished the season on a strong note, winning three of its last four games and dropping the final game by just one run.
The Utes are the defending champions of the MWC Tournament. Last year Utah was the first No. 6 seed in tournament history to win the title, advancing to the NCAA Tournament first the first time since 1960. The Utes defeated Tuesday's opponent, San Diego State, in the championship game of last year's tournament, 9-3.
The conference will announce the all-MWC team and individual award winners at Monday evening's banquet.
