SAN DIEGO - Utah's C.J. Cron and Nick Kuroczko were both named to the Mountain West Conference Baseball All-Tournament team following the conclusion of the MWC Tournament on Friday evening.
Utah finished 1-2 at the tournament, defeating San Diego State, 12-6, in its first game before falling to TCU (13-2) and Brigham Young (25-18).
Cron hit .615 during the tournament (8-for-13) with nine runs batted in, two home runs and two doubles. He drove in Utah's first run of the game against San Diego State to start a seven-run fourth inning. The MWC Player of the Year was intentionally walked twice against the Aztecs. He had two of Utah's four hits vs. TCU, driving in a run. Against BYU, Cron was 4-for-5 with a walk and six RBI. He hit two home runs and a double in the game.
Kuroczko was 8-for-12 (.667) for Utah with a pair of doubles, a triple, and eight RBI. He was also walked four times and scored six runs. Kuroczko had his best game against San Diego State, going 5-for-5 with five RBI and two doubles. The first-team all-MWC third baseman walked twice against TCU, scoring a run. He went 3-for-5 vs. BYU, driving in three runs. Kuroczko hit a two-RBI triple in Utah's eight-run fourth inning.
TCU defeated New Mexico in the title game late Friday evening, 2-0, to win its fourth conference tournament title in the past five years.
