DENTON, Texas - Utah baseball player C.J. Cron has been selected as the District VIII Player of the Year by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers of America, joining a growing list of awards for the sophomore standout.
Cron has earned first-team All-America honors from Collegiate Baseball newspaper and Ping!Baseball. The Mountain West Conference Player of the Year and MWC All-Tournament team member leads the nation with 1.65 RBI per game and ranks fifth nationally in slugging percentage (.817).
Cron is currently preparing to play in the prestigious Cape Cod Baseball League with the Cotuit Kettleers. In July he will travel to North Carolina for the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team Trials.
District VIII includes Wyoming, Utah, Idaho, New Mexico, Colorado, Nevada and Montana.
