Several current Utah players are playing in summer leagues around the country while some former Utes are in the minor leagues. For more information on all the players, scroll down to the links at the bottom.
Summer Ball
C.J. Cron finished his time in the Cape Cod league as the league's leader in RBIs (13) and tied for the lead in home runs (three). He batted .275 in 19 games and had eight doubles.
Brock Duke, who is playing for the San Luis Obispo Blues, was selected to the California Collegiate League all-star game, to be held July 14, 2010. Duke has a 1.80 ERA, a 3-0 record, and a team-high 30 strikeouts. Teammate Joe Pond is also playing well with a 1.84 ERA and a 1-1 record in nine appearances.
Gavin Green leads the Dubois County Bombers with a .316 batting average.
Trent Johnson leads the Moses Lake Pirates with a .323 batting average. Teammate Austin Shackelford has a team-high 25 hits while batting .287.
Minor Leagues
Brian Budrow continues to be strong with the South Bend Silver Hawks (Class A). He has not allowed a run in his last six outings. For the season he is 2-2 with a 2.72 ERA and 28 strikeouts.
Stephen Fife has pitched a team-high 81 innings with the Portland Sea Dogs (Class AA). He has a 4.11 ERA and a 4-2 record with 52 strikeouts. Also with the Sea Dogs is Ryan Khoury. He is hitting .275 in 30 games after moving from Pawtucket.
Chris Shelton is hitting .291 with the Round Rock Express (Class AAA).
Jesse Shriner was assigned to the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes (Class A Short Season). He is hitting .289 in 12 games.
Jordan Whatcott earned his first win in his first game with the GCL Phillies (Rookie League) on July 3.
Nick Kuroczko recently signed a professional contract with the independent Windy City Thunderbolts of the Frontier League.
