With minor league baseball teams finishing their seasons across the country, UtahUtes.com wraps up the seasons of the eight Utes who have continued their careers in professional baseball.
Jay Brossman finished his season with the Arkansas Travelers of the Double-A Texas League. He hit .149 in 26 games and ended the year on the disabled list.
Brian Budrow played in 40 games with the South Bend Silver Hawks with a 6-2 record and a 2.60 ERA, including 61 strikeouts. He ended the season with the Visaila Rawhide of the Class-A Advanced California League. He pitched in two games for the Rawhide, striking out two.
Stephen Fife went 8-6 with a 4.75 ERA in 26 games for the Portland Sea Dogs (Double-A). He had 82 strikeouts. Also playing at Portland was Ryan Khoury. He hit .246 batting average.
Chris Shelton spent the year with the Triple-A Round Rock Express. He hit .249 in 82 games, including 10 home runs.
Jesse Shriner spent time with three different teams during the year, ending the season with the Augusta GreenJackets (Class-A) of the South Atlantic League. He hit .267 in 11 games with Augusta.
Jordan Whatcott, who earned his first win in his first game with the GCL Phillies (Rookie League) on July 3, quickly advanced to end the season with the Clearwater Threshers of the Class A Advanced Florida State League. He was 2-0 in 12 games with a 1.08 ERA with the GCL Phillies, and played in four games for Clearwater.
Nick Kuroczko had a .267 batting average for the independent Windy City Thunderbolts. He hit .364 during the Frontier League playoffs to lead the team.
