SALT LAKE CITY - The Utah baseball team continues their mid-week games against in-state opponents with Utah Valley on Tuesday, April 12, beginning at 6:00 p.m. in Orem, Utah.
The Utes struggled with defensive errors and walks in dropping two of three to San Diego State over the weekend.
"We want to get back to playing solid baseball in all three phases of the game," Utah head coach Bill Kinneberg said. "I thought we swung the bats well this weekend but we didn't play well in the other two phases of the game.
Utah continues to struggle with injuries and will likely use several pitchers on Tuesday. Redshirt freshman Nick Green will get his first career start on Tuesday.
"Our pitching depth will be challenged," Kinneberg said. "We will mix-and-match all the way through. It will be a chance for guys who haven't thrown much to have their time to shine."
Utah Valley is coming off a strong weekend with a four-game sweep at NJIT. Three of the four games went into extra innings.
Utah hammered the Wolverines in their first meeting this season, winning 15-3 in Salt Lake City on March 29. Utah was led by Shaun Cooper, who had a 4-for-4 night, driving in three runs and scoring twice.
