SALT LAKE CITY The Utah baseball team closes out its regular-season schedule with a non-conference outing against UAB, with the three-game series beginning at noon on Thursday, May 19.
The Utes will be looking to finish the season strong after dropping two of three during the weekend against TCU. Utah rallied back with a comeback win over Utah Valley on Tuesday, winning 8-7 in the bottom of the ninth inning after trailing 7-1.
UAB is 27-25 on the year. The Blazers have struggled as of late, dropping eight of their last 11 games. UAB is eighth in the competitive Conference USA standings.
"Both us and UAB are trying to get prepared for our conference tournaments," Utah head coach Bill Kinneberg said. "These are important games because we want to go into the Mountain West tournament on a high note. UAB is in a very good conference and their staff has done a nice job with their program over the last few years."
Utah is the only MWC team not playing in conference this weekend. While TCU and Utah have clinched the one and two seeds, respectively, and have each earned a bye in the upcoming tournament, the remainder of the conference will be playing for seeds three through six.
Utah will recognize its seven seniors in a pregame ceremony on Saturday - Tyler Andersen, Rick Anton, Michael Beltran, Cody Guymon, Trent Johnson, Austin Shackelford and Stephen Streich.
Fans will have the opportunity to play baseball bingo during Saturday's game.
