Utah Head Coach Larry Krystkowiak
"We competed, I think we had a few breakdowns along the way but we're getting better. We played really hard, played together. We got to the line 25 times. Kareem playing 40 minutes and having that kind of assist-to-turnover ratio....and Hines had 20 points. I spoke with the guys in the locker room, we probably ran out of steam a little bit. I chose to go short on the rotation. I thought that was giving us the best chance to compete."
On Oregon's press
"I thought that was evident there in the end of the game, we didn't have the mindset to deal with their press. They came in with a fresh batch of horses and put on the press and that hurt us. We lost the discipline of getting our guys back when we shot and they got two or three dunks in transition and that took the air out of the arena with ourselves included. Those were setbacks but for the most part it was a heck of a ball game."
On shots not falling in the second half
"I think that's the nature of a game. It's also about the time we started dealing with the pressure. I know for a fact that we missed open shots. Those shots are not all going to go in and that's what helped us build a lead [in the first half]. They're not all going to go in. That's what helped us build a lead. We got a lot of similar shots that didn't go in and obviously you don't tally up points."
"I thought the effort was great. We executed about as good as we have done all year collectively. I thought we did a good job and had a pretty good game plan. Numbers wise it was one of our better performances offensively."
Junior guard Chris Hines
"I think the effort was right there. The first half was strong. We started off strong in the second half, but in the end it just wasn't there."
Freshman guard Kareem Storey
"Cedric [Martin] and [Chris] Hines did a really good job knocking down threes and knocking down shots period. [Jason Washburn] did a nice job and [Dijon Farr] was good cutting to the basket, so they gave me good options."
Oregon Head Coach Dana Altman
"It was a tough ball game for us. Utah has played awfully well at home in conference, with the exception of the Arizona game. Washington won here by four, but it went right down the wire and they have beaten Washington State and Arizona State bad here. We knew coming in that it was going to be a tough ball game. They are really well coached, Larry does a great job. They run their stuff and they don't get easy baskets, they do a great job with what they have. We were fortunate to get a win."
"We didn't get the defensive stops that we needed at times. We didn't play very well defensively so we could never get that eight, nine-point advantage that I would have liked to have gotten. We scored 79 points and we did some good things in the offensive end, but defensively, I just don't think we did a very good job."
"The press changed the whole game. The tempo, the energy level, it changed the game. We were not handling things very well, and again, the press just changed the energy of the ball game."
"[Olu Ashaolu] did a good job. He and Tony [Woods] really played well tonight and that was great. [Emory] and Tony didn't play the first half because they weren't taking care of their responsibilities and it hurt us in the first half. Especially with some of the foul trouble we had, but fortunately for us, in the second half they gave us some good minutes."
