SALT LAKE CITY - The Utah baseball team travels to Texas this weekend for the Kleberg Bank Classic, hosted by Texas A&M Corpus Christi and the Corpus Christi Hooks. The tournament begins with Nebraska on Friday afternoon.
Utah went 1-3 during its opening weekend in a four-game series against UC Davis.
"It was a struggle on both sides of the ball last weekend," Utah head coach Bill Kinneberg. "There wasn't much sync to it and nothing came easy to us. That's normal for the first weekend of competition considering how much time we have spent inside, but I thought we were a little further ahead than that. It was a long weekend, and we have one day of practice this week before we get after it again on Friday."
Nebraska went 0-3 during its opening weekend against Gonzaga. UNLV, a former Mountain West Conference foe that the Utes were 1-1 against last season, is 2-2 to start the year after winning one of three against Loyola Marymount and downing UC Irvine on Monday. Corpus Christi took three of four from Nebraska-Omaha and plays at Houston on Tuesday.
Zach Adams will start Friday's game on the mound against Nebraska.
