With baseball season right around the corner, UtahUtes.com will introduce you to the new players on the team in 'Getting to Know.' Today's spotlight is junior Ryan Cooperstone.
What is your favorite baseball memory?
Winning at Dodger Stadium in 2008 and 2009 for the city championship.
What is your favorite sport besides baseball?
Golf/hockey.
What do you like to do when you are not playing baseball?
Hang out with friends, play Xbox golf, and do extreme sports.
Do you have a nickname? How did you get your nickname?
Coop, my last name.
Why did you choose Utah? What is the best thing about Utah?
I chose Utah because I wanted to experience different places. The best thing is Café Rio.
Who has been the biggest influence in your life and why?
My dad because he always pushes me to be the best and he is always positive.
My favorite thing about Salt Lake City is:
The snow.
The teammate I most admire is who, and why?
Gavin Green. He is a funny guy off the field and plays with a loose attitude and is always picking up teammates.
What do you like best about Coach Kinneberg?
How he is laid back but always wants 100-percent hustle from his players, and to play at our best.
What are your goals for this year?
To be a Pac-12 player and to contribute to the team in any way possible.
What are your pregame superstitions?
I always wear one sock inside out every day.
What is your major and what do you want to do after you graduate?
PRT with an emphasis in sports management. I want to coach college or high school baseball.
