With baseball season right around the corner, UtahUtes.com will introduce you to the new players on the team in 'Getting to Know.' Today's spotlight is junior Ethan Leiter.
What is your favorite baseball memory?
Postseason experiences in general.
What is your favorite sport besides baseball?
Extreme sports.
What do you like to do when you are not playing baseball?
Hike, travel, explore different areas outdoors, cycle, hang out with friends, camping, listen to music.
Why did you choose Utah? What is the best thing about Utah?
For the opportunity to better myself within baseball and my major. I like the Wasatch Mountains and outdoor adventure opportunities they bring.
Who has been the biggest influence in your life and why?
My grandfather. He has supported me throughout my life and took me fishing for the first time along with camping, etc.
My favorite thing about Salt Lake City is:
The mountains.
The teammate I most admire is who, and why?
Shaun Cooper. He has made the most out of his shorter stature through hard work in all aspects in both baseball and school.
What do you like best about Coach Kinneberg?
He is approachable.
What are your goals for this year?
Hit .300+ in the Pac-12, make solid progressions academically, have fun, learn a lot and as a direct result turn that knowledge into progress positively.
What is your major and what do you want to do after you graduate?
Parks and Recreation, emphasis in Natural Resource Management/Biology. I want to be a wildlife biologist and hot shot crew member on a summertime wildfire team.
