COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The University of Utah men's tennis team (9-4) wrapped up its road slate with a 6-1 victory at Air Force (6-8) Monday. After the Utes netted the doubles point, freshman Rafael Davidian clinched the match for the Utes at the No. 4 position.

Freshman Slim Hamza improved to a solid 12-1 singles dual-match record, while sophomore Alejandro Medinilla remains undefeated at 6-0 in singles dual matches.

"It is good to get another win under our belts." said head coach F.D. Robbins. "We played hard on this trip, and it will be good to take a week off before the tournament in Boise."

Utah started off strong in doubles play, capturing the doubles point in two sets. Medinilla and freshman Ace Matias paired up at the No. 2 position, downing Alex Grubbs and Andy Jackson, 8-3.

Sophomore Devin Lane and Hamza then topped Joey Brandt and Steven Young, 8-3, at the No. 3 spot to clinch the doubles point for the Utes. Senior Benito Suriano and junior Dmytro Mamedov then dropped an 8-4 decision to Lance Wilhelm and Grant Taylor at the top slot.

Utah went into singles play with a 1-0 advantage, but the Falcons quickly tied the score at 1-1 when Suriano fell to Wilhelm, 6-2, 6-3, at the No. 1 position. Mamedov then put the Utes ahead 2-1 with a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Landon Kinsey at the No. 2 spot.

Hamza then downed Jackson at the third slot, 6-3, 6-2, making the score 3-1 in favor of Utah and setting up Davidian to decide the match.

Davidian then battled Alex Lineberry at the No. 4 position to a tight 6-2, 7-6(1) victory. Medinilla then extended the Utes' victory to 5-1, besting Brandt, 6-2, 6-2, at the No. 6 slot.

Matias then finished Utah's victory at 6-1, topping Young at the No. 5 spot, 6-4, 6-4.

The Utes next head to Boise, Idaho for the Boise State Classic, March 23-24.
