SALT LAKE CITY - The Utah baseball team plays its first home game of the season on Wednesday, March 21, against Sacramento State. First pitch is at 6:00 p.m. MT.
"Playing 18 games on the road is a daunting task for any team," Utah head coach Bill Kinneberg said. "We're looking forward to playing at Spring Mobile and getting a chance to play at home."
Utah will start Tony Vocca on the mound. Sacramento State's starter had not been announced yet.
The Utes are coming off a solid weekend against USC, taking two of the three games to win the series.
"I felt like we got better this week, and I was very pleased with that," Kinneberg said. "We played each pitch a little better this weekend on both sides of the ball. We pitched very well on Friday, and we were better on offense, and we played really good defense. Hopefully we will continue to improve."
Sacramento State is 9-11 on the season. The Hornets recently took three of five from Dartmouth, and play Pacific on Tuesday before facing the Utes on Wednesday.
Following their midweek game, the Utes continue in conference play this weekend against Oregon.
