SALT LAKE CITY - Utah basketball has announced the signing of Dakari Tucker, a 6-foot-5 wing from Serra HS in Gardena, Calif. Tucker becomes the eighth player to accept a scholarship offer to play for the Utes in 2012-13.
"We are very excited to welcome Dakari to our basketball program," said head coach Larry Krystkowiak. "He shoots the ball very well and is an excellent runner. He reminds me of a young racehorse that needs some time developing physically. Knowing his work ethic and competitive nature, he has an extremely bright future here at Utah."
Tucker was named the CIF-Southern Section Player of the Year as a senior in 2011-12 as he led Serra to the division championship. He was also named a First-Team All-Div. 4 and Honorable Mention All-State selection by MaxPreps. Tucker averaged 12.4 points per game to go with 5.0 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.5 steals. He shot 45% from the field for the season (153-of-340) and knocked down 80% of his free throws (52-of-65).
